Books/video lessons for beginner investor
« on: September 26, 2016, 01:46:09 PM »
Tried to find a thread with good recommendations of books/video lessons for beginners, but couldn't find one. I will really appreciate any suggestions of good books/videos.

I'm sure someone will post the links to a few threads soon, but Bogleheads and A Simple Path to Wealth will get you started.

Your Money or Your Life isn't so much about investing, but it will make a huge impact on your mindset.

+1 to Jim Collins' book (or website).

Great place for a beginner to start.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

The Bogleheads' Guide to Retirement Planning is a good one.  As a rule the Bogleheads aren't skewed to early retirement, but the book actually does discuss it.

Not a book, just a short .pdf, but very good, simple investing advice:

Another vote for jlcollinsnh's Simple Path to Wealth or his stock series on his blog.

If you are Canadian I highly recommend Wanderer's investment workshop on the Millenial-revolution blog.  They do the investment series for both Canadian and American audiences, I think it's a great series for beginners.
