Best App to Keep Blogs In One Place?
« on: April 28, 2016, 08:14:48 AM »
Hi all,

I'm trying to find a good way/app whatever, to have all of the blogs I want to follow in one place, and have it work like a feed so that new posts show up at the top - that way, when I have a few extra minutes, I can read a couple, either on my phone or on my laptop.

After doing some research, some people suggested the reader portion of Wordpress, so I downloaded it, and went on the website, and can't really figure it out. Also, it seems to only allow you to add blogs that are on Wordpress, Blogger, etc. For instance, I was unable to add this blog to it.

Does anyone do this and have a good suggestion?

Thanks!

More generally, feedly is a RSS reader.

I personally use tiny tiny RSS reader, but that requires installing it yourself.

But search for best RSS reader and pick one.

Most blogs will have a RSS feed available in their "subscribe here" section.

I use newsblur
It's very easy to add or delete logs as interests change.

I use netvibes.  I'm not in love with it.  But I don't hate it either.  I really liked google reader... but it went the way of many other fine google products.

After Google Reader went defunct, I poked around and decided Feedly was my best option. They have mobile apps and then on your laptop/desktop you can use the website. I did have to fiddle with the preferences a bit to get what I wanted, which was a simple reverse chronological feed of article titles. I also like their "Collections" option--I read 200+ blogs, including both professional and personal interests, so it's nice to be able to look at just one category, especially when I am reading on my phone. They have tagging options but I don't bother with those as I don't usually have a ton of stuff saved for later.

Inoreader.com is very similar to the old Google Reader.

I use netvibes on my mac and feedly on my phone. I have used netvibes as a dashboard for email screening, alerts, fb and twitter. It can be customized for event tagging which was useful to keep up virtually with conferences. Miss google reader. I have an account with bloglovin too, but I don't find it as compelling.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
