Bath mat recommendation
« on: July 07, 2023, 01:14:09 PM »
Does anyone have a great bathmat recommendation?  The ultra-soft micro polyester ones in the store are no good.  They feel so nice but who really cares about softness on callused feet.  And they look like absolute garbage after two months of wear.

I'm thinking something of woven cotten maybe?  Something durable that soaks up water reasonably. Maybe no rubber backing so it washes in the washing machine well, but it would be more important that it stays in place on the floor well.  Should be available in relatively dark colors so black dog hair doesn't show.

Thanks!

If you are talking about the terrycloth mats that are sort of like towels you place on the floor when you step out of the tub, but do not stay on the floor like a rug, then I highly recommend the ones from LL Bean.  They are all cotton and very high quality.

I got a thick one at Costco that has held up well.It goes in the washer and when dried is fluffed up again.

The LL Bean ones seem quite nice and pretty much what I am looking for (was looking for).  We found a good selection of cotton bath mats at Target.  I have no idea why Wal-Mart's selection is pretty much all micro-poly and Target has so many cotton options.  Maybe there is some other section at Wal-Mart.

I suspect the Target ones won't be as durable as LL Bean ones would have been but we will see.  I cut up rug pad stuff to put under each so they stay put nicely.  This seems so functionally similar to ones with the rubber built in on the back that it now seems completely dumb to me to have it built-in.

Glad you found something that works!

I bought a really cute cotton bath mat from Target about 5 years ago, and it's held up surprisingly well. I didn't expect it to be so durable, but it doesn't seem like it has lost much fluff in the wash over time, and I think it has a few more years left in it at least.
