Air fryer that doesn’t smell like plastic?
« on: January 29, 2022, 07:01:59 PM »
I’ve had 2 air fryers home already and they both smelled like burning plastic.  I’ve cleaned them both, made sure all the packing materials were removed, and ran them both over and over outside for several hours.  I’ve tried the Instant Vortex and Hamilton Beech.  I’ve returned them both.  Can anyone recommend an air fryer that won’t stink up my house and make my food taste like plastic?  Thanks!

I recently got a Dash air fryer. I've used it several times and I haven't noticed any plastic smells/tastes (though next time I use it I'll be paranoid and actively check for them).

I have the ninja foodi that is like an instant pot + air fryer. I've never had any issues with a plastic smell. I was pregnant when we bought it (and am again now) so super sensitive to smells and I didn't notice any plastic smell at all.

I finally found one and I’m thrilled.  Third times a charm, I guess.  I bought a Cosori 5.8 qt and absolutely love it.  I ran it outside a few times and now, no plastic smell!

I have a GoWise | USA Air fryer oven.
A few months ago it just quit working (like it wasn't plugged in).  It was replaced under warr.
I didn't put food in it the first time I fired it up, just in case - but there wasn't any plastic smell or taste.
I don't remember any plastic smell, etc. with the first one...    but it was about a yr ago.
