A Good Free Learning Site
« on: June 17, 2015, 10:47:55 AM »
Memrise.com has a lot of free courses which are set up for very beginners.  They also have a pay level which they try to get you to join but both I and the Hub have been perfectly happy as freeloaders.  He is learning Russian and I am learning Ancient Greek.

Not 100% free, but an excellent learning site is lynda.com. They provide excellent video training on a variety of subjects. For around $25 per month you get unlimited access to all of their videos. I've used this site many times to help me develop curriculum for my own part-time classes.

Pretty happy with Coursera myself. I'm currently taking one course from Ohio State and another from Johns Hopkins.

Lynda may also be free through your academic or municipal library. It is through mine!

Always remember..  When things are free, you are not the customer.

I love duolingo. Haven't visited it in awhile though.

My library offers e2go online classes for free. They are nice if you are delving into a completely unfamiliar topic. Discussion boards are available where the instructor and class mates can respond to your questions about the lesson. The classes follow a schedule, not self paced.

There are always itunesU classes available for free self paced study. I'm taking a Stanford programming methodologies class right now.
