So I am not alone - I also thought it was a mug shot! Won't be able to identify you at an MMM gathering! Shucks!
I thought it was him too!!

OK here's a pretty old photo of me (10 years ago??)  on a 2 month long southwest camping trip about 8 months after I ER'd

Ok, that is seriously badass!

When I grow up and can post FIRE pictures, they will look mostly like this (one of the many climbing trip reports I've posted over the years):

Hey Dude - I just re-read your link (and even more jealous!) is that a Tuckerman's Ravine, NH blog site? A place I love and spent a lot of time at (if you notice on my motorcycle the license plates are from Maine). Not Kings Canyon but a great place for sure!

YES IT IS!!  I love the White Mountains, and especially Mount Washington!  Tuck's is a great place, but a total zoo on spring weekends, so I frequent many of the other great ravines on Mt. Washington, like Huntington, Ammonoosuc, Monroe Brook, the Great Gulf, Burt Ravine, Gulf of Slides, Oakes Gulf -- there's endless stuff up there to explore, and fantastic lines to ski/ride.  Here's a little Mt. Washington porn for ya!  (one of my favorite days up there -- hoping to nail the full deal this year):

That looks like a lovely place Maxman. Is that the ocean or Gulf behind the pool or a lake? I lived in Key West (stationed there when in the service) for about a year but never did see much of central Florida - definitely on the agenda to do that someday soon.

That's a lake. We live about an hour away from the Gulf.

Oh Dude you are killing me!!! Seriously, those are some great photos! Love that area for climbing (the ?? Ledge off the hwy near North Conway, etc..) and all the great hikes thru the various Notches and up Mt Washington. I always stayed with a friend in the Jackson area and we'd just go all over the place, hiking and biking. Never skied there though as I usually stuck to Rangley/Sunday River or somewhere closer to home. Sometimes would do the flat trail off the Kanga-whatsamacallit hwy and sleep on the little wooden camping platforms they have. Did a lot of the hut to hut hikes to but usually too crowded.  My dream has always been to move back to New England once I was ER'd- specifically Maine again - and you are stoking those fires big time. Taking off on a long road trip after Easter and hope to make it out there by June.

Good chance I'll be up in N. Conway pretty much every weekend in June, so give me a shout, and I'll buy you a beer at The Moat!

A couple of shots from a recent trip:
Those are great - what's the story details behind them?

Thanks. My youngest son and I just got back from a 15 day tour starting in Delhi, across to Jaipur, then Agra, Orchha, Varanasi, into Nepal then Lumbini, Chitwan National Park, Pokhara and Kathmandu. It was with G Adventures and gave a good mix of free time and major tourist attractions, traveling by bus, plane, trains, rickshaws, tuk tuks, boat and jeeps. My son and I both succumbed to Delhi Belly (which I am still getting over!) but it did not detract from the awesomeness of the trip. I highly recommend it!

I just finished getting all my gear together and packed and hope to leave tomorrow. Joshua Tree first for some bouldering and camping if it doesn't rain (rain in SoCal - never!). After that I'll probably just meander...wherever. I don't have a plan, direction, or any time line (or time limit) so who know where I'll actually end up but New England is the end destination as I'd like to rent a house there for the summer - or at least get there by fall. But no real plans. Being ER kind of rocks that way :-)!

Hey Spartana--

Don't know if you will be coming through southwestern CO, but if you do, give me a shout and I will take you on a hike and/or buy you dinner!

In any case, have a great trip!!

Sounds great!!  Safe travels!

Reviving this thread since there are a lot of new ERees who may want to post some of their photos about their FIRE life. PLus I got a new Smart Phone (a luddite converts!) and want to see if I can use it to post photos here. Try # one -The Barkinator in a kayak: OK came out upside down and rotating it doesn't work. but good enough.

Hahaha! I have a JRT That also has the Mohawk. I like to fluff it up to make her look all punk! ROCK AND ROLL AND BARK!

Ha Ha - Yeah I always think I should color her Mohawk black and get her a spike collar so she can run with the big dogs :-)! Not sure what "breed" she is but I think of her as a Terrhuahua - half terrier and half Chihuahua.

Food pics!!Almost as good as a dog in a kayak :-)! Looks good ROG
I was thinking fushia or other bright color(s).
Of course, my little punk rocker is scared of thunderstorms.

Both of mine are rescues - and for the longest time, JRTs were not part of AKC. So since these are used curs, hard to know what their pedigree really is - but I don't care! I am devoted to rescuing any dog rather than buying a specific breed. I got these from a breed-focussed group - but they don't really know what they are getting either. I am also a huge fan of mixed breeds / mutts!

Rock on Spartana and Barkinator!

You asked for it.....

I've been living and traveling in a self-converted campervan since retiring a year and a half ago. Many more pictures and stuff on my blog (mwilddreams.net) and journal here.

The entire milky way, seen from Utah (it covers about half of the visible sky and this picture is a composite of multiple shots in order to make a ~200 degree panorama

Camping in Arizona (the van's down there in the middle)

Exploring remote parts of Utah

I've had some pretty sweet views from my bed.

Zion Canyon - my favorite place so far:

C40, amazing photos, such a FIRE life! You too DoofusOfErasmus! By 14er, do you mean over 14000feet high? or is that the grade of rock climb?

Haha, yes (typical/eyeroll, why walk when you can drive?) ..pretty sure I was driven to 12,000 feet somewhere near Estes Park. That was a lot easier than hiking the Annapurna's.

SailormanDan, what is the story with the last picture, the body paint?

Would love to see pictures of your boat.
