Thanks everybody! I will repost on the other channel as you suggest. I am looking for people who have successfully achieved their goal of building up enough of a nest egg and have retired. One aim of the story is to inspire people who are working on similar goals to show that it can be done, and provide advice on how to get there. Thanks very much!

How I retired at age 47: NO KIDS :p
I was laid off in 2018. I did some calcs.
My expenses was $20k/yr. With the 25x rule, I only needed $500k to retire.
i had $600k combined retirement and after-tax accts.
With a $100k safety net (and a paid off $400k house), I pulled the trigger.
And i lucked out. S&p 500 was at 2800 in mid 2018. It's almost double now at 5200.
I have more $ now than when i retired 6yrs ago! And with 0 hrs work!
