Lots of great replies and information.
As an update on my situation, I've decided to give my notice on June 1st. I can't keep trading my time for more money at my current place of employment. I will have reached my goal of $1.2 million of next worth and although we are spending more than $30,000 per year now, I know we can adjust to lower spending as needed.
Also, I'll gladly do some part time work if needed to reduce the strain on our savings if needed even if it's at a much lower pay rate.
We plan on renting out our place in Calgary for the next year, projected net income of $27,000 which should cover most of our expenses as we look for a new house in low cost Essex county in Ontario. Also, being Canadian, no need to budget health and I'm pretty handy so don't expense maintenance to be much on any houses we own.
That's the current plan and I feel really excited and comfortable about giving it a try. As people have mentioned, If things don't workout I can always go back to my previous field of work as a worse case scenario.
Lots of good information posted by everyone, keep up the good work.
