1000 extra days!
« on: July 05, 2015, 03:50:26 PM »
Someone wrote a post asking "how many working days have you got left?"

I looked at it and thought, I could say -xxx where xxx was the number of days I haven't worked because I'm retired. Then I added it up.

1000 days I haven't had to go to work!
1000 extra days I could do anything I liked!

These are only the days I should have gone to work, if I was working. It doesn't include public holidays, or annual leave, or long service leave, or weekends, or sick leave, or even the days I would have been off on training...

ONE THOUSAND DAYS

OH JOY!!!!!

And they have been FUN.

That sounds fantastic, congratulations!  I feel like you should have done one of those "picture a day" projects to show how your smile gets progressively bigger as ER goes on.  :)

I just had MS Excel do the math.  Today is day 1007 for me.  It has been gloriously unproductive!

This is a very cool way of looking at one of the net results of earlier retirement.  Or any retirement.

In my case, I guess I should multiply 250 job days per year times the 14 years I've lived without needing to have a job.  That's 3500 days, give or take.  (If you could see me now, you would see a smile on my face.)

I can see your smirky smile all the way to Wisconsin. Good for you! We are at day 551.

When I saw this subject line, I guessed it was about someone who was excited because they only had 1000 days to go to FIRE. I am so happy that I was wrong!
Good for you! I retired in Dec, 2012, so even counting all the days, I am not there yet, but I sure am savoring every one of them.

Cool!  I'm looking forward to the day when I have been retired longer than I worked.  Should happen around 2029 or so.  My grandfather ERed in the more traditional sense in his 50's with the goal of being retired longer than he worked, people told him it was impossible. Not sure if he has passed the mark yet or not, but if not, he is mighty close!

Amen, sister!

I'm not there yet, but I have so much anticipation that sometimes I feel like a school boy counting down the days to summer vacation.
