Who's watching the meteor shower tonight?
« on: August 11, 2016, 09:43:46 PM »
The Perseid meteor shower is supposed to peak tonight just after midnight at 200+ meteors per hour. We're getting extra, apparently, because of some comet residue.

Fantastic light show if you can find a fairly dark place to watch it from, and best of all it's FREE.

Not me! Rain and clouds tonight. I am sad. Maybe tomorrow night.

Camping tomorrow night - hoping for some action in the sky! We are pretty close to a dark sky preserve, so it is likely to be dark where we are. Guess it depends how cloudy it is.

Raina and clouds here as well - but we needed the rain desperately.  Maybe tonight.

We watched it last night! This may sound cheesy to some but for each meteor we spotted we said something we were thankful for in our lives similar to how people make wishes on stars. It kept us awake past midnight and it left us with an even warmer glow than we would have gotten just from watching the sky.

That's awesome Landlady! We saw a few but they weren't anything like last year. Last year we saw them blazing across the sky - this year just a few hazy tails :(

It was fantastic from our backyard in the country .. I saw 5 in about 1/2 an hour and they were streeeeeaking across the sky at 10pm, hard to miss, really. My 9 year old saw 6. It was just so awesome!

Rain and clouds all weekend :(

We did have some patches of clear skies on Friday night but it was a bit uncomfortable standing and looking up at the sky so we only stargazed for about 5-10 mins. I tried to convince my friends to walk to the beach but they were NOT fans of a dark walk late at night. Instead, we went into the trailer to watch a movie (very different type of camping for me lol!).

Missed this one. Did see a spectacular meteor several months back, lit up the sky as it streaked across.

Truly are nature's fireworks.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
