Cardamom.  Maybe the best spice ever.

I love cardamom - need to find recipes that use it (other than Xmas cookies).

I made pumpkin ginger bread - ate some for lunch, snack, and dessert.

I put it (and cinnamon) in my coffee and in my oatmeal.

1. Our oven lighter broke this weekend. We have a turducken, squash au gratin, and a pecan pie to cook.
2. The clutch just started going out on one of the vehicles.
3. The power went out last night.

1. Taught my teenager how to make banana bread this morning. Yummy breakfast, togetherness, and life skills.

2. The movers are here to cart away the Steinway we just donated to a non-profit. More living room space, warm fuzzies, and tax deduction.

3. My mom just visited to show me the very cool Christmas gift she's making for my youngest. She's making half of the pieces and they'll make the other half together. Repurposing, experience gifting, and a friendly chat.

Life is so good.

Gradually I make some progress in how to accept the surrounding world and how to handle my mood to peace. It owes to my beloved Father God who accompanies me and delivers me through any occasion. Pray to God in the first place in occasions you are not able to handle, He will be always with you.

Kimchi.  Holy crap.  I don't know where it's been all my life.  (Yes, I do.  It's been in South Korea.)

Mmmm. I love good kimchi. First time I had it, it was homemade, buried and everything. It's hard to top that, although I've tried. I must learn to make it myself.

The smell of garlic cooking as I rode my bike into work this morning. Couldn't pinpoint the restaurant, but it smelled sooooo good.

We're far enough past the solstice that the sunrise is noticeably earlier today. Also a break in the clouds, so there's fire on the mountains.

Both my kids had friends over for the day, and ALL 4 got along and had a great time.  I got to hang out reading and listening to happy voices.  Great start for the new year.

Got our property assessment in the mail. Up 17k from last year! And Vancouver real estate continues to do what is has for many years now...when will it stop? Crazy. And awesome (if you have already bought and paid off your mortgage, like moi). ;)

  • Scratching things off my list always gives me a thrill.
  • I accomplished some health maintenance goals today; that is exciting.
  • I solved some of the world's problems in my own way.
  • People said "Good Morning" as they always do, but somehow the chorus was more beautiful today.

Today, I discovered that podcasts allow me to tediously process data while also acquiring new interesting information, similar to what I typically read in articles. Then, I felt kind of silly for not getting into podcasts earlier.

Also texted my college roommate to wish her a happy birthday and we had a nice chat for a few minutes. Unfortunately we're bad at calling each other and our current 3-hour time difference doesn't help (by the time I get home and have dinner, she's asleep!)

Actually yesterday...

Gave/received TEN hugs!!  (Six different people.)  Really made a huge difference in my mood and outlook on the world!

Hugs are the best!

I off-handedly asked my husband if he wanted to go running with me this morning, and he said YES! It's a sunny, crackling cold day outside, and we giggled the whole time at each other trying to talk with numb faces. Such a nice surprise!

Yesterday it was an early morning workout, sandwiches for lunch (Amazon Local deal) and nitrogen infused ice-cream (Groupon) after work.

Today it was a massage (Groupon), a mini cannoli and just relaxing and watching movies at home. Speaking of which I need to spend less and def eat out less! All these deals were from last year.

Gotta keep it simple to make your day and be happy.

Walking up 16 flights of stairs (the building elevators were broken) and getting only slightly sweaty and moderately winded! I did the same thing a few years ago and was completely exhausted and drenched in sweat by the time I got to my floor.

Found chicken drumsticks at Safeway for $.99/lb and chicken thighs for $1.10/lb.  I got lots of fruits, veggies, bread, milk, and meats all for $50.  It would have run me around $80 at the fancy grocery store that's right next to my place.  Now I know I can live on spending $200 per month on food, I just have to know where to go.  I always assumed that Costco was the cheapest.  This also solidifies part of my projected ER budget and that is not all based on unicorns and rainbows.

Now I just have to get a handle on the health care thing.

It finally hit -40 here this week and I'm loving it.  :)  I know it seems crazy, and just about everyone I know here is grumbling about it, but I love the cold.  Also, how can I be mad when it makes everything so pretty?  The clear blue sky, the ice fog, the snow, the returning sun, the hoar frost on everything...love it.

Got free pizza - convenience store didn't charge me for my slice because they thought it was overdone/ under element too long.

Brother and his family came to town. My son loved all the attention and was laughing and playing with his cousins all weekend. He slept an extra four hours today as part of his recovery--and everyone should know how peaceful it is to watch a child sleep.

Life is good, and so is this thread!
