ah small world..., quoting one of my previous posts on this thread:

Anneke van Giersbergen - The Best Is Yet To Come
Samael - Supra Karma

Anneke is one of the singers on Z² and the track "March of the Poozers" on disc 3  is some kind of "homage" to Samael. Welcome to the diverse world of gothic-black-industrial!

And some more!
Moonspell ft. Anneke van Gierbergen - Scorpion Flower
Samael - On Earth
The Sirens - Why So Lonely?

I'm well acquainted with Anneke, being a Gathering fan.  In fact, I first started listening to Devin when I found out about "The Retinal Circus" and her participation in it.  I like what I've heard from the Sirens; I'll have to check out Samael.

That's great! The Gathering has been one of my favorite bands for 20 years.

Anneke has done so many collaborations that I wasn't sure you knew about her career. Do you listen to other bands from that era? Theatre of Tragedy, Paradise Lost etc?

If it has hard guitars and a female singer, chances are very good I listen to it or at the very least have heard of the band.  I blame Pat Benatar, whom I adored as a teenager.  I tend to like the European bands--Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Theatre of Tragedy (RIP), After Forever (another RIP but SO COOL that Floor Jansen's in Nightwish now), Amaranthe, Delain, that sort of thing.  I'm not a big fan of the doomy stuff other than early Lacuna Coil but if a song catches my ear I'll listen to it.

Theatre of Tragedy (RIP)

The two original singers have been touring together late 2015: Venus. Liv is also fronting Leave's Eyes. I find their last album King of Kings excellent - it is a concept album around the life of Norway's first king, Harald Fairhair.

Tame Impala. How the hell did I not know about this band? Been on a constant loop for days now.

I'm going to have the track "Let it Happen" on repeat for my upcoming half marathon...this song alone should improve my time by a few minutes.

One of my favorite artists is Halestorm (Lzzy Hale) - incidentally my first date with my SO was a Halestorm concert in 2012. They haven't been mentioned in this thread in a couple of years, so it's time for a revival. :D

Device (feat. Lzzy Hale) - Close My Eyes Forever. Basically the sound of Disturbed + Halestorm. Words can not express how much I love this song.

Apocalyptic
I Miss the Misery
Here's to Us
Mz. Hyde

Here are a couple of covers:
Hell is for Children (Pat Benatar cover)
Shoot to Thrill (AC/DC cover)

Halestorm's okay.  I've liked what I've heard but haven't spent money on them yet.

And in my continuing habit of being late to the party since I don't listen to the radio, I just discovered Adele.  "Rolling in the Deep," holy shit, is that a great song.

Ali and I discovered her a few weeks ago when our parents visited.

My mom my and mother-in-law are both obsessed with her right now.

Neither of us were particularly fans, but we enjoyed this clip of Adele pranking some fans by entering an Adele look-alike contest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHXjxWaQs9o

Particularly the first lady to realize, at 3:41.

Bjork - Army Of Me

Ohhhhhh shiiiiiit. It's like shaking up a bassline from Muse, the drums from Tomoyasu Hotei, and vaguely mustachian Bjorklyrics.

I can't get into Arch Enemy.  The moment the Cookie Monster vocals start, that's when I shut it off, which means I don't listen to about 90% of current metal.  About the only band with CMV I can tolerate is Lamb of God, since for the most part I can actually understand what Randy Blythe's saying.  Plus they're from Richmond so, you know, gotta support local musicians!
