Vancouver/Victoria Canadians - car question
« on: September 28, 2017, 06:42:34 AM »
I'm planning on taking a break in a couple of weeks, and have a 'crazy' plan to fly out west, then buy a car and drive it back. I should be able to sell the car when I get home (near Ottawa).

I'm hoping to use Alaska Air points so the flight will be nearly free. But, I have to fly into the US (or, from the US). I was thinking of going YOW -> SEA, spending a few days there, then getting some form of ferry up to Victoria.

Now, from looking at kijiji it looks like there are far fewer cars available there than in GVR. Am I much better off walking around Victoria, then getting a ferry back to the mainland and buying something there, and driving home? I'm guessing yes.

(Anyone on here have a mint Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis for sale? :))

Thanks! I've booked some stuff, don't think I'll make it to the island this time.

Flying very indirectly to Seattle; spending a couple of days there; then taking a bus up to Vancouver. Few days there (car hunting, ha), then drive home... hopefully slowly, I'm not sure how long the temp permit/insurance I get from ICBC will last.

I'm going the hostel route - should be a pretty cheap trip! Apart from the buying a car and driving it 3500? km home bit! Haha.
