I'm hoping he's sequestered in a low security correctional facility during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Everyone has to have *something* to hope for.    A high security facility would be too much though!

Too much? Or too much to hope for?

But a US one, not one in e.g. Sweden.

I think he could probably easily raise a million dollars from his followers if he just tells them how it's a democrat plot to keep him away from holding rallies with them and hugging more flags and flying to places where he can prevent more left-wing ANTIFA socialist communists from stealing elections.  He'd have the money in 10 minutes.

Sadly.

Trump is now planning to launch his own social media platform in 2-3 months, says Fox news.

"This is something that I think will be the hottest ticket in social media," Miller said. "It's going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what President Trump does, but it will be his own platform."

Are we ready for the Trump organization to disrupt silicon valley?   I can barely contain my excitement.     I wonder how long it will take to get hacked?

And why the f**k does everybody keep calling Tonald Drump the president?   He's the former president, damn it.

It reminds me of the sedevacantist Catholics, who don’t believe that the current pope (or any pope since Pius XII) is actually the pope.

I was always fond of the practice of referring to a former president as "Mr. LastName" (never were we fortunate to have a Mrs. LastName).  To my mind, it reinforced the transfer of power, rather than the retention of it.

Wikipedia suggests I may be on the losing side of presidential etiquette trends.

So i looked this up quickly on Wikipedia, because I do remember other former presidents being addressed as “Mr President” after they left office, and not just Trump.

Quote
Historically [In the United States], the title was reserved for the incumbent president only, and was not to be used for former presidents, holding that it was not proper to use the title as a courtesy title when addressing a former president.[15][16][17][18][19] According to the official website of the United States of America, the correct way to address a letter is to use "The Honorable John Doe" and the correct salutation is "Mr Doe". [20] Despite that, some sources maintain that living former U.S. presidents continue to be addressed as "Mr. President", both formally and informally, and some contemporary experts on etiquette maintain that it is entirely appropriate

This article from the Onion certainly seems definitive about how Ex-Presidents are to be treated.

LOL If I would bet, I would be willing to make risky bet that "ANTIFA" needs less than 4 hours. This is the thing with the most LULZ and kudos of the year for any left-oriented script kiddy out there.
It's probably DDOSed in the first 10 minutes.

Is Trumps health care plan still coming out “any day now”?

After his slew of failed businesses and failed promises I don’t understand why people assume such a venture would be a success. I can list a dozen companies that have tried and failed to launch a social media platform with more funding and lots of tech experience at the helm.  Anyone remember Quibi?

9 figures doesn’t go far if the plan is to create a (profitable) social media platform. Especially if that nine figure sum starts with a 1 or 2.

Ahhh but you are missing the revenue that will be generated from all of the ads for My Pillow, Life insurance, reverse mortgages, hearing aides, gold, legacy box and other targeted ads.

It will be HUGE

And Russia will pay for the hosting, China will provide the hardware.

Did I mention it will be HUGE, the best ever!

You're assuming creating a social media platform is the actual goal. Selling an idea is much more profitable and can be dangled out like a carrot for a long time.

It might actually be set up to fail. Trump could cry foul and Free Speech blabla and gettting even more donations to make it secure. But since there is never a 100% security....

Sort of. It didn't implode. Amazon Web Services dropped them as a client.  It became hugely popular, and never bothered to implement basic server security so that just before Amazon gave them the boot, a hacker swooped in and copied every text, photo, video, and geo-tag that had ever been posted to the site.

lol@trump setting up a successful social media platform. This is just another giant grift. His supporters aren't going to pay $1,000/night to stay in his hotels so this is how he's going to shake them down for cash.

An official archival website was set up the day he left office (National Archives Press Release).  If there's a building, it's will not be on the government's dime, as per usual.  Obama's is just getting started.

I can't imagine what would be in 45's physical library.

It helps if you're a cult leader.

This is the guy who, after all, started his own slush PAC post-election and made 9 figures from contributions in 60 days. https://www.conservapedia.com/GEOTUS

So . . . uh . . . speaking of libraries.  Will Trump have a presidential library?  :P

You bet!   Best Archie comic collection in Florida.

I wouldn't think he'd pick material so far above his level of reading comprehension . . .

Girlie magazines and clipped newspaper articles about a select group of rich and famous? Nothing presidential.

I am sure the library wouldn't need to be bigger than a telephone booth, if anyone remembers what those are!

I don't think he'll ever have a real presidential library. The way they work is the former president raises money to fund the library but then turns it over to the National Archives to run. Trump is never going to let that kind of money slip through his fingers. I bet he puts it in one of his failing golf courses and charges an exorbitant amount of money for admission.

I can't imagine what would be in 45's physical library.

Obviously, porn!

And maps doctored with Sharpies to show his military victories.

Exactly.

1) Solicit $100M in donations.
2) Build a $10M building, which leases land from one of his golf courses.
3) Keep the remainder of the donations and use them to pay "consulting" fees to his children.

It's great to see this thread lie dormant for more than a week at a time.

But sometimes outrages must be documented. Like this one from https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/03/us/politics/trump-donations.html

But what the Blatts believed was duplicity was actually an intentional scheme to boost revenues by the Trump campaign and the for-profit company that processed its online donations, WinRed. Facing a cash crunch and getting badly outspent by the Democrats, the campaign had begun last September to set up recurring donations by default for online donors, for every week until the election.

Contributors had to wade through a fine-print disclaimer and manually uncheck a box to opt out.

As the election neared, the Trump team made that disclaimer increasingly opaque, an investigation by The New York Times showed. It introduced a second prechecked box, known internally as a “money bomb,” that doubled a person’s contribution. Eventually its solicitations featured lines of text in bold and capital letters that overwhelmed the opt-out language.

I'm sure somehow even the bilked will exempt Trump himself from any blame for this. If mental gymnastics ever becomes an Olympic event the MAGA crowd will sweep the medals.

WOW! They have gone all out on this!

You are now a Radical Left if you don't donate every month to the swindler?

Anyone else here thinking of priest shouting "you are going to hell if you don't tithe, and you do know it is collected when you leave the church in a big croud where everyone can see?"
(I always admired that passive agressive custom. It is a marvelous example of social pressure. Genius who invented it.)

Most of us: I sure hope there's something redeeming in this Trump guy that the seventy million people who voted for him in November 2020 saw.

Trump Voters: *Seeing themselves paying less in Federal Income Tax, but not realizing they've contributed the difference to RNCC because they forgot to uncheck a box on a website*

Trump gave us a long list of outrages this weekend at a RNC Donor retreat.
A few headlines:

  • Trump refused to give a speech unless his business profited
  • He had attendees bussed from the Four Seasons to his Mar a Lago property for his 50 minute speech (billing the RNC in the process)
  • Called Mitch McConnell a "dumb son of a bitch" and a "stone cold loser"
  • Continued to call the 2020 election results a "fraud" and "bull___t"
  • Said we should be calling the vaccine the Trumpcine (not clear which vaccine he was talking about)
  • Mocked Fauci, said he is "full of crap" and blamed him for half a million deaths
  • Complained McConnell "never thanked him" for hiring his wife, Elaine Chao
  • He recycled his claims from 2016 about immigrants: They’re coming in from the Middle East. They’re not sending their best people. You have murderers, you have rapists, you have drug dealers,
