[Three terms means he would run and win 2024 and then run again in 2028 and win?   But a prez can only serve 2 terms, correct?
I'm no expert, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that a person can only serve two consecutive terms as President.  I don't believe there is anything stopping someone from serving more terms in total.

22nd Amendment:  No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.

There’s more, but that’s the important part.

I think the plan is:

The Repubs will win the Senate
The Repubs will win the House
Trump will win a House seat and become the Speaker
The House and Senate will impeach and convict the President AND the VP

This will make Trump the President for the remainder of Biden's term. He can then run again in 2024 for a total of 9+ years.

Unless the GOP can magically flip 17 Senate Seats ( and they don't even have 17 even open to flip in 2022) they won't be removing Biden from the Presidency even in that doomsday scenario.

thank you for this!   Have a beer (or other delicious beverage) on me.

There is even more wrong with this crack pot theory. Removal by impeachment expecting to get to the Speaker is akin to playing ‘whack-a-mole’: when a President of VP is removed, a successor is appointed by the new president. In other words, when the vice president becomes president, the speaker does not move into the office of vice president.

"Mumble-mumble wait and see what happens in 2 weeks!"

Well, in this theory, we're talking about a Senate that is looking to overthrow the current administration. The Senate could just refuse to seat a new VP while going through the process of also removing the new acting president.

Trump: It says you can only be ELECTED twice, it doesn't say anything about seizing power via an insurrection.

Yeah, cause that worked out so well for them the last time, when Trump was still actually in charge.

Also it does very explicitly forbid seizing power via an insurrection.

Wehre does it say that? Where? I have enver seen it. It is a LIE! Als I never did any insurrection. That's Fake News! I would never do that. It's a lie, a lie! I don't need to, because I am the lawfully elected president, it's only the Fake News that say I have lost.

I mean, who could have possibly predicted that Trump would try to funnel money to himself even if it hurt his supposed party?

Shocking! It's almost like, out of nowhere, he only cares about himself! /s

Even back when it was still possible to think Trump was sincerely seeking public service, I didn't understand why people gave him money. The man was a billionaire, but he wants you to contribute to his campaign to spend perhaps $150 million to win a job.

The man donates his annual salary of $400,000/year. But the government rents space from him and covers security costs for four adult children and their families to the tune of eight figures/year. And on and on

Because that patriotic. Saying you want fucking rich people to pay for their own stuff is socialism!

Hypocrisy, but not surprising.

WaPo Reports today:
Former president Donald Trump recently requested a mail-in ballot for a municipal election in South Florida, according to Palm Beach County records, voting again by mail despite months of repeatedly promoting false claims of election fraud without evidence.

I'm glad you guys are still sharing on here, but I had a moment yesterday, when I looked at this thread's title--saw that no one had posted for the entire day--and thought, "Man, that's nice to not have to think or read about that man."

Exactly...it's soooooooo nice to not have to hear about him and his shenanigans 40 times per day. Now, the only things I've been hearing about sporadically are all the investigations and court cases being brought against him and his cabal....and his "statements" (on Presidential letterhead) about how he alone is to thank for the success the Biden administration has had in getting vaccines out and finally slowing the spread of covid. Every success the Biden team has makes Trump look that much more pathetic and inept.

Remember it was Trump that invented the vaccine... ;)

Heck,. if I had enough money that I didn't need to work - like Trump - I'd be out there assisting with COVID vaccinations. Sort of how Jimmy Carter has helped with Habitat for Humanity over the years.

There's some nightmare fodder for you. Imagine walking into your vaccine appointment, they show you into the little cubicle where you're getting your shot, and the person turns around... it's Trump, with a syringe and a big grin. "I MADE IT ALL BY MYSELF!"

But then you’d have to be around people. Ew. And those people might make you sick, even though you already had the disease and received the best medical care money can buy and then secretly got vaccinated in a way that abdicated your leadership responsibilities to the less than majority number of people who elected you...

It's only fraud when the Dems do it, right?

I recall that he voted by mail-in for years even before he called it fraud.

There are at least TEN civil suits proceeding into discovery where DJT is named as a dependent.  Depositions are being ordered. Trump has a long, documented history of saying “you only plead the fifth when you are guilty” - anyone wish to give the over/under on whether Trump pleads the fifth over and over?

...of course his base will just loudly complain about ‘judicial persecution’ and miss the irony.

I'm hoping he's sequestered in a low security correctional facility during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Everyone has to have *something* to hope for.    A high security facility would be too much though!

I think he could probably easily raise a million dollars from his followers if he just tells them how it's a democrat plot to keep him away from holding rallies with them and hugging more flags and flying to places where he can prevent more left-wing ANTIFA socialist communists from stealing elections.  He'd have the money in 10 minutes.

Sadly.

Trump is now planning to launch his own social media platform in 2-3 months, says Fox news.

"This is something that I think will be the hottest ticket in social media," Miller said. "It's going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what President Trump does, but it will be his own platform."

Are we ready for the Trump organization to disrupt silicon valley?   I can barely contain my excitement.     I wonder how long it will take to get hacked?

And why the f**k does everybody keep calling Tonald Drump the president?   He's the former president, damn it.

It reminds me of the sedevacantist Catholics, who don’t believe that the current pope (or any pope since Pius XII) is actually the pope.

I was always fond of the practice of referring to a former president as "Mr. LastName" (never were we fortunate to have a Mrs. LastName).  To my mind, it reinforced the transfer of power, rather than the retention of it.

Wikipedia suggests I may be on the losing side of presidential etiquette trends.

So i looked this up quickly on Wikipedia, because I do remember other former presidents being addressed as “Mr President” after they left office, and not just Trump.

Quote
Historically [In the United States], the title was reserved for the incumbent president only, and was not to be used for former presidents, holding that it was not proper to use the title as a courtesy title when addressing a former president.[15][16][17][18][19] According to the official website of the United States of America, the correct way to address a letter is to use "The Honorable John Doe" and the correct salutation is "Mr Doe". [20] Despite that, some sources maintain that living former U.S. presidents continue to be addressed as "Mr. President", both formally and informally, and some contemporary experts on etiquette maintain that it is entirely appropriate

This article from the Onion certainly seems definitive about how Ex-Presidents are to be treated.

Is Trumps health care plan still coming out “any day now”?

After his slew of failed businesses and failed promises I don’t understand why people assume such a venture would be a success. I can list a dozen companies that have tried and failed to launch a social media platform with more funding and lots of tech experience at the helm.  Anyone remember Quibi?

9 figures doesn’t go far if the plan is to create a (profitable) social media platform. Especially if that nine figure sum starts with a 1 or 2.

Ahhh but you are missing the revenue that will be generated from all of the ads for My Pillow, Life insurance, reverse mortgages, hearing aides, gold, legacy box and other targeted ads.

It will be HUGE

And Russia will pay for the hosting, China will provide the hardware.

Did I mention it will be HUGE, the best ever!

It helps if you're a cult leader.

This is the guy who, after all, started his own slush PAC post-election and made 9 figures from contributions in 60 days. https://www.conservapedia.com/GEOTUS

Is Trumps health care plan still coming out “any day now”?

You're assuming creating a social media platform is the actual goal. Selling an idea is much more profitable and can be dangled out like a carrot for a long time.

Trump is now planning to launch his own social media platform in 2-3 months, says Fox news.

Are we ready for the Trump organization to disrupt silicon valley?   I can barely contain my excitement.     I wonder how long it will take to get hacked?

LOL If I would bet, I would be willing to make risky bet that "ANTIFA" needs less than 4 hours. This is the thing with the most LULZ and kudos of the year for any left-oriented script kiddy out there.
It's probably DDOSed in the first 10 minutes.

Especially as this is clearly another Trump grift (I wonder what the membership fee will be) and security measures will be minimal to reduce his overhead and maximize profit.
It might actually be set up to fail. Trump could cry foul and Free Speech blabla and gettting even more donations to make it secure. But since there is never a 100% security....

Parler? Didn't that implode because of poor coding? "We never expected to many people using us!!"

Sort of. It didn't implode. Amazon Web Services dropped them as a client.  It became hugely popular, and never bothered to implement basic server security so that just before Amazon gave them the boot, a hacker swooped in and copied every text, photo, video, and geo-tag that had ever been posted to the site.

lol@trump setting up a successful social media platform. This is just another giant grift. His supporters aren't going to pay $1,000/night to stay in his hotels so this is how he's going to shake them down for cash.

Maybe, but only because his aides taped up all his papers after he ripped them up when he was done with them.

An official archival website was set up the day he left office (National Archives Press Release).  If there's a building, it's will not be on the government's dime, as per usual.  Obama's is just getting started.

I can't imagine what would be in 45's physical library.

Yes. It's US law that each president has one.

Dollars to donuts it'll be at a Trump property and probably near a gold course that is having trouble.

Dang, you can do so many word plays and inuendos with that combination!
