Wheat bread, egg salad, deli ham, and cucumber slices. That is a damn good sandwich, any other sandwiches right now that I should know about?

Lettuce sandwich....

Wheat bread, mixed lettuces, Swiss cheese, generous helping of roasted red peppers, one or two rounds of red onion, salt and pepper.

Optional: tomato and/or mayo.

Far better than you might imagine.

For every sandwich you have, always give it a shot toasted. 60% of the time it makes all sandwiches 10x better, sometimes.
I took a plain old turkey + cheese sandwich, toast it up in the at-work Foreman-type grill, and Bam! It's like I went out to eat every lunch, crispy, delicious and hot off the grill!

When I feel adventurous, I'll grill up an egg + veges separately and add it in as the sandwich toasts up and all of the delicious juices soak up in to the bread. It will make you question why you would ever eat another untoasted sandwich ever again, maybe.

omg, we need a gorge forman grill at our work place! They can't even clean the coffee make though, so... would probably be unusable anyway Lol.

As for toasting that is good advice... not sure about toasting egg salad or another favorite of mine, Peanut Butter and Pickle. Try it.

Here and here are two other really good sandwich threads that you might visit for ideas.

Re: PB and pickle: ewwwwwwwww. Sounds absolutely revolting. I'll try it, but I'm not going in with high expectations.

+1. If it's not toasted, it's not worth eating, ever. Most of the time.

Not on  my diet right now, but Tuna fish, mayo , pickle relish and fritos on toasted white bread is  one of my favorites , followed by jarred red peppers and cream cheese on toasted sourdough.

When I have leftover turkey after Turkey Day and Christmas:

Wheat bread
Cheddar
Salami
Turkey
Cranberry Relish (real kind, not out of a can)
Lettuce
Wheat bread

Best. Sandwich. Ever.

Not a sandwich, but your egg salad made me think of this.  When you have eaten all the dill pickles in a jar, hardboil some eggs, peel off the shells, and put them in the pickle brine for 3-4 days.  FABULOUS snack.  I thought of it because I think eggs done that way would make fabulous egg salad.

Sourdough
fried egg
havarti
deli ham
tomato
honey mustard (or mayo if that's your thing)

Simple sandwiches are the best, especially French sandwiches. Always start with fresh baguette, never toasted. Add what you like, but never, ever, mix more than two ingredients. Pâté de foie and cornichons. Ham and Dijon mustard. Saucisson and butter. Tuna and mayonnaise. Brie or Gruyère and Butter.

Cream cheese, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, and ghost pepper salsa in a burrito wrap. Add capers and it's even better.

Maybe not good FOR you, but good for the soul.

I'll submit one more constructed in the following manner

Grilled cheese sandwich on top
tomato
lettuce
onion
bacon
a hamburger patty
stone ground mustard
another grilled cheese sandwich on bottom

Obviously, I write this with no consideration for cardiovascular health.

Hubby and I made our own version of a Boston Brute, from the restaurant, not the city.

Toasted Cibatta bun with:
Chedder
tuscan ham
chorizo
Pan fried red peppers and onions
mozza
meat sauce -(Spaghetti sauce I had made with ground pork, lentils and lots of spices)

Then broiled and served. So good. Not healthy, but I figure the peppers, onions, lentils and tomato sauce count for something...

There's a place near us that makes a grilled cheese with brie, cheddar, american and BACON JAM.  Even better...you can make bacon jam at home.  http://www.foodiewithfamily.com/2011/01/17/bacon-jam-a-k-a-oooh-mommy-jam/.

You're welcome.

There's a restaurant near Round Lake, IL that makes a cheeseburger where the bun consists of two grilled cheese sandwiches.

I'm sorry.

I love to make a veggie sandwich that has roasted beets, avocado, lettuce, swiss cheese, a little mayo, and black pepper.  This one is best on toast imo.

There are some very um, unusual, sandwiches in this thread.

My favorite would have to be salami on baguette.  I like it with gruyère, lots of arugula that's been dressed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, some olive tapenade on the bread, and tomatoes.  And one the side, salt and vinegar chips plus some cornichons and fancy olives.

Toasted whole wheat bread, mayo, ripe avocado, sliced tomato, salt and pepper. This is one of those sandwhiches where all the ingredients need to be good, so wait for the summer and buy/make good bread.

Bacon, lettuce and peanut butter on whole wheat toast.

Hated mayo and tomatoes as a kid and this was my mother's alternative.

Still tasty.

What Russ said!  A hot brown from Ramsey's in Lexington.

My favorite sandwich is a toasted nutty bread with thin sliced roasted turkey, provolone cheese, lots of pesto and roasted red peppers.

Now I'm hungry.

Pastrami on a cinnamon raisin bagel with mustard and pickles.  Optional: provolone.

(It's like none of y'all have ever heard of pastrami, the greatest deli meat ever.)

Cream cheese and bacon on a roll (mind-blowingly, the sandwich cart guys charge me less for this than a bacon egg and cheese).

The Wawa Italian:
Hoagie roll (yeah I said hoagie), olive oil, mayo (optional), salt, pepper, oregano, 3 slices provolone, 6 slices turkey, 2 slices capicola, 2 slices salami.

Don't worry, Sheepstache, I had a pastrami sandwich yesterday.  I really really love the pastrami sandwiches at Schlotsky's Deli but there are none in my state or any nearby state, so I very rarely get them.  Then I have to settle for inferior pastrami sandwiches and it's usually not worth the disappointment.  So I just stick to salami.  :(
