Ted Talks

So, I've finally got around to looking up and listening to some TED Talks, and I'm curious what everyone's favorites are?

I haven't listened to many full TED Talks, but I do enjoy the TED Radio Hour. I've been meaning to check out Monica Lewinsky's talk - I was really interested after hearing her interview and snippets of the the talk.

I've been listening to the TED Radio podcasts (saved shows) using the NPR One app.  I've listened to so many it's a complete blur.

Now I'm listening to Planet Money - those are all very good too.

There's a really controversial one doing the rounds lately given by an Icelandic woman and the Australian man who raped her when she was 16 and he was 18(?). He was an exchange student and they met yadda yadda fell in love yadda yadda. She was drunk one night, he took her home and then did what he wanted etc.

Haven't seen the talk but have heard her tell her story and it gave me the chills that she and he could do a TED talk and then also write a book about it. She understandably took a long time to process it and unfortunately statute of limitations long passed in Iceland which is why he can't be prosecuted for it.

Lots of interesting stuff there, hard to pick out one particular favorite.
Some of my picks:
next industrial revolution, how new technology may reverse offshoring and outsourcing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyWtIwwEgS0
how humans can grow "100 year old" forests in much less time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjUsobGWhs8
barbershops as social meeting place and their effect on healthcare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppZ2WIlRvR8

I'd say they've gone off the rails lately, with gems like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzlYyhh3X0w

This is one of my favorite parody videos ever.  It just hits so many points of pointlessness.

As someone who struggled with keeping his shoes, this one significantly helped me more than any Ted talk with very little time invested.

It's only 3 minutes long.

There are tons of great ones, some just piss me off to no end :)

My personal favorite is from a comedian/mathman.

Psychopath Test https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYemnKEKx0c

That is one of my absolute favorites.

I also like:

My Stroke of Insight (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyyjU8fzEYU) a neuroscientist discusses her own stroke, piecing together what she felt with what she knows as a neuroscientist. Fascinating.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyyjU8fzEYU - sort of silly, but makes you think about the real advancements of the modern world

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arj7oStGLkU - I'm a fan of the site waitbutwhy.com and this is main author of those posts.
