Road Trip Activities
« on: April 17, 2015, 11:51:31 AM »
I am going on a road trip with 2 of my friends to Toronto (with a day in Niagara Falls); from my current location in Wisconsin.
We have some baked goods we're bringing along, and plan on stocking up at the grocery store for more things to munch on. I have loaded up my smartphone with 70s hard rock albums (Deep Purple, Bad Axe, Rainbow, Black Sabbath), that I plan on playing while headed down the road.

What are some activities you do on road trips, either to pass the time, make the journey more interesting along the way, satiate your hunger or boredom.

I like to make a paper sign that says :) SMILE :) and hold it up in the window as people drive by. The reaction from old disgruntled men and their wives is the best.
I also play a game where you take the letter combinations from liscense plates (for example in WI we have XXX-###) and come up with a phrase that matches that. They usually turn out extremely vulgar or sexual. My personal best is EDS### - Extreme Diarrhea Sex.

If I see a brown cow I'll say: "How now brown cow?". (I'm easily amused).

When we were kids we used to count how many vw beetles we saw. Sometimes we'd just try to be the first to see one and yell  "Beetle-beetle".

A friends family used to pull over occasionally and everyone would hop out of the car, run around the car, and get back in quickly. That, of course, is also an excellent way to switch drivers at small town stoplights! (Just don't get hit by other cars).

Sing-alongs (loudly of course) with your tunes can also be fun -- make a playlist with fun unexpected songs to keep your co-travellers amused. Suggestions include Bohemian Rhapsody, Yellow Submarine, Sweet Home Alabama, and Werewolves of London.
