Geez, strawman much?
I like Bernie's policies, I think they will lead to a better society for everyone.
I think the extra paid in taxes is well worth the benefits for everyone.
So because you "Believe" it will be better, then others should be forced to follow?
Yes, if the majority also believe that, and vote for it. That's how democracy works.
What about supporting a system that allows people to take care of their own finances and responsibilities, which then that individual can decide their own route.
I believe we have that.
Like mentioned earlier, if one would like to support education why not write a check to a charity, scholarship, or sponsor an individual? Why should we ALL be dragged into a policy? Just because it MIGHT help everyone.
Didn't MMM move to the USA because it allowed more freedom to control his financial life (less taxes and more income)? To allow him to choose what he wanted and to retire early? If these socialist ideas were so great, then why did he not stay in Canada since they have that system in place already?
Not sure why it matters, or how it's relevant, but MMM is very socially liberal.
Actually we are a Democratic Republic, which acts different than just a democracy. We vote for representatives, which then votes for us. If the masses of the North want something, only their representatives will have a say, while my reps can stop that. It is meant to help stop mob mentality, which sometimes leads to bad choices.
to the second point, YES WE ARE, so why are you trying to diminish that?
to the last point, it does matter, isn't his blog about helping others to financial freedom? Wasn't this place (USA) the best place for MMM to become that? so why are we changing our ways to the opposite? There is nothing wrong about balance, but full blown education and healthcare like other countries does not make us unique anymore or fall into the same financial freedom we have now.
