The fact that it's so neatly sorted into piles kinda makes me suspect that recycling is underway for at least some of that stuff.

Yea, other than one or 2 pictures I dont see it as waste but recycling. Maybe the waste was buying some of the shit in the first place but for the most part it seems to be being prepared to be put back to use. imo
