Looking for a new pair of shoes for work
« on: October 05, 2015, 01:30:37 PM »
This is totally off topic so thank you for indulging me. I am looking for a new pair of shoes for the office and am having a really hard time. I am hoping there are some folks out there who can offer suggestions. My requirements are as follows:

  • 7.5 Wide women's/38
  • Black leather or similar for a low-stated, professional look
  • Flat, flexible sole
  • Some padding but not a ton
  • Large toe box, i.e. minimalist shoe-esque

Any recommended brands to check out? All normal women's shoes are too narrow and constricting, especially in the toe area. Men's shoes could be good but I think they mostly don't come small enough for my fit. I appreciate the input.

I don't know what style you are looking for, but I would highly recommend the Softwalk selection:

I also have a wide foot, and normally require a W or even a WW.  I used to swear by Clarks for shoes similar to what you describe, but the last few pairs I've bought have not held up very well, only lasting a season or so.

Yesterday I bought a pair of Earth Origins at a Super Shoes.  They tend to run pretty wide. I actually ended up buying a medium.  They were a little cheaper than Clarks and are amazingly comfortable.  They have several styles similar to your description.

I'm on my feet all day for work & I love Aravon shoes- come in different widths & last long time.  It is a line by New Balance .

Lots of mary-jane styles with good support & no heel

Have you tried looking at boys dress shoes?  They should be similar fit to Men's but sized much smaller.  I don't know where to go to buy them, but I have seen children wearing them at weddings and the like.

You might want to look into Merrell shoes. If you're ok with slip-ons, they have a few work-appropriate ones here:  http://www.merrell.com/US/en/womens-shoes/

FWIW I have small, wide feet, and am on my feet all day.
