Rewriting acronyms
« on: February 25, 2025, 02:46:00 PM »
Fun topic, I hope.  We need some black humour these days, eh?

Take an acronym and rename it to something that refutes the original.  They don't have to be political, although that might be the easiest, and most fun.  Like limericks, the best will have some bite.

I'll start - these are not mine, but I do appreciate them:

PETA - People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.  From People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (note this is a very suspect organization)

MAGA - Make America Go Away.  From, I'm sure almost all of us know this, Make America Great Again.

Edit - some of the acronyms people are starting from are more obscure, so let's put the original (or most common) after our version.   I've edited mine.

BTW, I am impressed with how creative people are being!

I like these old car jokes, like Ford (found on road, dead) or Fiat (fix it again, Tony).
My girlfriend and I like to play this game where we take a saying and reduce it to an acronym and the other tries to figure it out. We stopped at a new taco truck and found the burritos not up to the standard of our favorite spot and I blurted out "MAGBA" (Make American Burritos Great Again!).

Hmm, some of these I don't know the originals, I'm probably not the only one - maybe we should post the standard one and then our version?

I'll go back and edit my original starter post.

I saw a new one in the wild:

MAGA - Moscow Assets Grifting America.  This is very good.  I wish I could take credit but I can't.

NRA (National Rifle Association): Necessary Regulations on Arms

(it's a direct opposite since deep inside the NRA written on the conference room walls is something like "no gun control is the only accepted result")

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
