For those who may not already be familiar with the blog Humans of New York, I highly recommend. It's also a Facebook page. Brandon Stanton, a guy who used to work on the stock exchange in Chicago, was laid off and came to NYC with a camera and a dream--- to photograph 10,000 people. His work has evolved over time, and his portraits now include quotes from his conversations with the subject. The results are inspiring, hilarious, beautiful, heartbreaking and almost always interesting. The FB version is fun to read with people's comments.
A short while ago he was invited by the United Nations to go on a 50 day tour of 10 countries to bring attention to the Millennium Development Goals. He is not reporting, but rather--- listening.
There's something mustachian about the photographer--- he gets to the heart of being human, and allows his audience a view into a world they were always too busy to notice.
