How to save money on internet?
« on: July 12, 2016, 11:11:27 AM »
Hi,
I have been having internet problems for years.  I had comcast, which I had got from $34.99 to $49.99 to $59.99.  Today, I got a bill for $82.00.  Just for internet!  I called and ask to cancel.  They came back with a promotion of TV and internet for $72 and that is the best they can do.  I asked them to cancel it.  They actually did.  In the past, when I wanted to cancel, they offered a better deal for the internet.  I signed with Fios but stuck in a 2 year contract for $60.  I am in Philadelphia where comcast has a monopoly.  I feel like I got ripped off.  Why is it so expensive for just internet?  Do you guys know of better deals in Philly?

Start here -> http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/share-your-badassity/communications-tech-discussion-thread-1/

That should give you all the answers available.

Direct links to the relevant bits for FIREoneDay (it covers everything, including alternate ISPs, slower speeds, etc.:

I do need to update it to include TOAST.net for people in AT&T Uverse areas, though.
