Has anyone watched Black Mirror?

Just watched the first episode on Netflix today. It's an anthology series in the thread of satire and techno-paranoia but dark and twisted.

Without giving the plot away, I found it all very unsettling. It's on the extreme end of things and unlikely to happen, but it makes me wary of social media.

Has anyone else watched it? Thoughts?

I haven't seen it... but this is the 2nd recommendation I've seen in 3 days.  (I'd never ever heard of it before the first.)

Definitely recommend. The episodes are not related but they have common themes. Quite gripping and I found them rather thought provoking. I binge watched the first two seasons in one go. Enjoyed this years Christmas episode too.

The episode Fifteen Million Merits has stayed with me for a very long time.

It might be a little heavy handed but but there are these little gut punch moments.

I would be interested to know what other people think.

A friend recommended this to me and I watched the first episode. Still (about two years later) find it incredibly disturbing. Didn't sleep properly the first couple of nights after I'd watched it either. I had really wanted to like them but haven't yet been able to bring myself to watch another.

I would give it another try if you didn't like the first as it is quite different to the others (I too found it rather disgusting and disturbing but liked the others).

I watched the first episode and I found it so sophomoric and childish that I didn't watch any more of it.  I don't understand why people rave about it.

Yes, we've seen the first few episodes, but haven't had any luck finding the next one in sequence (not that it matters, really). They are certainly a bit disturbing, but make you think, in a good way. Both DH and me spend most of our waking hours on a computer, and his sleep is certainly adversely impacted by not packing it away before bed. Reminding ourselves of the negative physiological and psychological impacts we experience from being on screen all the time is good - except the screen itself is doing the reminding on Black Mirror!

I can't bear to watch most reality tv anymore because of Black Mirror so that might be worth a consideration.

I'm 3 episodes in and really like it. I didn't like the first one as much but the next two were great so I'm glad pushed through. I might have liked the first one more if I were from the UK. American public reactions would have been too different so it wasn't satisfying, though there are some similarities.

I note Charlie Brooker's the writer for some of them and the producer. I wonder if the half-hour show the guy in episode 2 ends up with reminds Charlie of his own specials :)

He co-wrote that episode with his wife who had been involved in X-factor, it's very hard to not to see it as a metaphor for some things that really happened.
