Money is like food calories, investments are like muscle, emergency fund is like body fat. Muscle is the powerful stuff that get's shit done; you want most of your calories to go there. Body fat is important to get you through tough times so you don't have to cannibalize your muscle, but you don't want to keep any more than necessary. One flaw in the analogy is too much body fat is harmful, but too much emergency fund isn't harmful, it's just not efficient.

Many fit celebrities are all over magazines and TV trying to tell you how to get fit, but most of it is bullshit. Numerous "get fit quick" schemes exist, but it's best to pick a manageable number of exercises that works the whole body and make slow, steady gains. You will inevitably get injured or have some other set back, but if you have a solid plan and stick to it, smartly, you will continue to get fit slowly.
