So.....is it just me or is everyone scoffing at gender neutralness male?

Yes, this is a total hijack of the original thread.  But it is a legitimate and serious issue that women are STILL underrepresented in large segments of society, including this one.

A-men.

Imagine being new around here and watching a thread derail to this extent. How embarrassing. So someone makes points out a small thing they have issue with, a group of assholes decide to rail on that person and pour on some fuel and light a match. Would it have been that hard to politely say you disagree  that its a big deal and continue with the topic? Nah, a group of you had to make a big scene and be snarkasses about it. So much for Mustachianism (be cool, if anyone needed reminding). This thread should probably be closed.

Imagine being new around here and watching a thread derail because a self-appointed morality police-type ignites a conflagration over the use of grammar and perceived social injustices.  Would it have been so hard to just keep it on track and start a new thread to rant on whatever?

So, women, change it! Earn more! Or should you be paid more because you're a woman? That's the hole in this entire argument. There's no law ACTIVELY stopping you from earning as much as you damn well please.

Where was the rant? A group of you made the issue bigger than it could have been. Did you really not want the thread to derail? Sure doesn't seem like it.

You realise you just autonomously put on the dunce cap, right? And sat in the corner?

Um, did you miss an ocean of spilled virtual ink on historical grammar and perceived injustices?  All of that could have been put in a new thread, but the PC police chose to crap all over the thread.

That said, I think this has stayed civil.  Its nice to see we are all restraining our poop-flinging instincts, more or less.

Nope, I read it. If all of that (meaning the interaction between two sides) is considered "restraining our poop-flinging instincts"...well I really think adults can do better than that.

I actually went back and re-read the thread. Seems like it all started after your undies comment (I dont feel strongly about it either way) but then a few others assumed the floodgates were open and started piling on.

THREAD DERAIL

Why did people have to whine about stupid stuff? Shouldn't you have immediately dialed the thoughtcrime enforcement agency to dispatch gender-neutral assassination drones instead of wrecking the thread?

The millionaire next door is a "he"?

A fictional person being male is an issue?

Only if you have your undies in a wad.

Last I heard, most millionaires were part of a married couple.

We should start referring to millionaires as millionessaires to counteract the inherent gender bias in the word.

Only on internet forums does a discussion of financial management turn into a grammarian battle over gendered and gender-neutral pronouns.  Now we must sit back and watch for fulfillment of Godwin's law - sooner or later someone will say Hitler.

Oops I just said Hitler!

Oh no! I said it again!

So.....is it just me or is everyone scoffing at gender neutralness male?

Yes, this is a total hijack of the original thread.  But it is a legitimate and serious issue that women are STILL underrepresented in large segments of society, including this one.

No, I think they are scoffing at how the original content, which had everything to do with how to become a millionaire and nothing to do with what sex the millionaire is, turned into a discussion about gender bias where none existed.

But if it makes you feel better.....

I assumed this was about a guy because there wasn't any mention about buying shoes. There, now you have a proper gender bias bullseye to aim at, I even put in bold for you....

So.....is it just me or is everyone scoffing at gender neutralness male?

Can't speak for anyone else, but I sure am.

I bet you could find a pair of tongs at the thrift store to help unwad those undies.  Or perhaps you have really long fingernails...

It really looks more like the assholes crapped all over the thread to me.

It's probably just me, but I love it when threads derail.  They're usually the most entertaining.  Of course it helps if you don't take it too seriously. :)

Well, so much for restraint.  I think I will let you stew in your own filth rather than alert the mods.  You have a nice life, sweetheart.

I'm enjoying it.  But I also poke at animals in the zoo for giggles. :-)

Why not alert the mods? Did I hurt your feelings? I mean you did mention the PC Police crapping all over the thread, was "assholes" too much? Oh, and thanks, you too sweet tea! :)

Lol, to be honest I can't disagree (to a certain extent)...so fair enough!

I kinda love this thread.

I think it is legitimate to point out areas of potential offense. Using "he" as a default pronoun may not be universally offensive, but it could be considered offensive by some, or even many. Try replacing "he" with "she" in historical texts, or hell, even in everyday language, and when you start to get the squint eyes pointed in your direction, maybe you will see that it isn't about a pair of undies being in a wad. Let's unite undies and be all-inclusive, yes?

for fuck's sake everybody

a few people want to have a discussion about quite an interesting topic, and 70% of you just come and shit all over it without adding anything productive.

the few posters in this thread who actually want to have a discussion, please start a new thread

protip for rule breakers and instigators: this new thread will probably be watched by multiple mods, and we're handing out 3 day bans like candy these days.
