How many of you are pet owners/animal lovers? I grew up with a hampster, and a dog (black lab) and was always more of a dog person. I disliked cats until my early 20s when I had a roommate who adopted an adorable and friendly kitten.
At 22 I adopted my own cat, Marla (see photos) from a shelter. It will be our 10 year anniversary this June - I can't believe it! She has a personality more like a dog, though. She's a total lap cat and will sit on anyone (especially new people) if they'll have her. She is very social - when I have friends over she will sit in the middle of the room, or even at the table if there is a spare seat for her. She also usually comes when she's called. I've even taken her on long road trips (18 hours) and she roams in the car and stares out the window.
She is now approximately 11-12 years old but still very spry. I hope she lives to be at least 20. She's the best roommate I've ever had! LOL
