Haha.

"So what exactly is stopping us from doing this?"
"Geometry."

This video reminds me of working at Starbucks:

Customer: "Hi I'd like an iced cappuccino."
Me: "Are you referring to our blended drinks? We call them frappuccinos."
Customer: "No, I want a cappuccino over ice."
Me: "A cappuccino is a hot drink with foamed milk, if I pour it over ice it will get watery and..."
Customer: "No, I don't want it hot."
Me: "In order to make the foam on a cappuccino we have to steam the milk."
Customer: "No, I don't want any foam either."
Me: "Oh, I think you would like an iced latte, it is exactly what you are describing."
Customer: "No, I don't want an iced latte. I want a no-foam, iced cappuccino."

I made her an iced latte and she was happy.

AFAIK, when someone doesn't realise why what they're asking for is impossible, they also aren't going to realise that what you give them isn't what they asked for.

Yeah, I kinda wanted to say, "I'm glad you like it. I made you an iced latte, so that is what you should order from now on." But I kept my mouth shut.

That's awesome. I just sent it to some engineers. :)

It didn't make me laugh. It made me cringe when I saw this on Twitter. Sometimes I'm the girl asking for the kitten balloon; other times, I'm the one trying to explain that you can't draw green or transparent lines that are red.

This is such a painfully familiar parody it is not even funny at all.

This is a parody? :)

I'm just pretending that was all new to me rather than the picture of the past six months...

I got such a kick out of this when it was going around on FB. Since pretty much all of my friends are engineers though, it did leave me wondering how the video clip is perceived by the non-engineering side of the population. Can anyone open my eyes?

I didn't see this as being specific to the engineering profession.  I'm considered an "expert" in what I do and the engineers that I work with usually have no interest in learning the "rules" associated with it.  They often ask for "red lines drawn with green ink".  I've just learned who it's worth explaining it to, and when to just answer "sure, no problem".   I have also said on many occasions that I can do anything, the question is whether the time and expense are worth it.    Never had the kitten problem though.
