FBI Undercover Terror Investigations Go Too Far

FBI Agent Apparently Egged On Garland Shooter

If you read into nearly any story of somebody arrested for terror links in the USA, you find out that the FBI supplied them with fake bomb materials or in some way heavily encouraged them. Sometimes these people are of questionable mental competence, and in my opinion shouldn't be prosecuted.

It's seemed likely for a long time that this pushing would be involved in real violence one day, and in the article above we learn that an FBI agent texted Elton Simpson, who shot up the Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland, Texas, "Tear up Texas" shortly before the event.

(Fortunately Elton Simpson did a bad job and the police did a good job; he and his partner were the only deaths or even serious injuries.)

Amateurs - compared to the mounties
The RCMP found a couple of "mentally challenged" drug addicts that converted from satanism to Islam and then gave them the plans and fake bombs to blow up the BC parliament.

At the investigation into the entrapment after the trial the RCMP claimed that the terrorists original plan had been to "capture a Navy submarine and fire missiles at Seattle"  and so "The Mounties steered Nuttall and Korody toward planting bombs at the provincial legislature because it was a safer and more manageable scenario than other riskier ideas the pair had floated"

Can anyone detail how some of these investigations don't stray into "entrapment"?

Glad the crazies are behind bars after these events. So 60-70 years ago would these people have been in metal wards or are people getting more extreme or ???

The vast, vast majority of "terrorists" we have captured have been in these types of entrapments.  I this where we should be spending our investigative capital?  The majority of these folks are loser loners who would never have the means or the wits to carry anything out.  It is political theater and akin to the TSA hand puppet effectiveness.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
