70% of our federal spending is Medicare, Social Security and "defense." The focus on "Obamaphones" is like someone who makes $25,000 worrying about whether to buy generic or name-brand mustard when they have a $70,000 Escalade sitting in the parking lot.
Since everyone gets old (hopefully), everyone tends to benefit from Social Security and Medicare. What we don't benefit from is spending trillions of dollars on poorly designed aircraft, or losing wars against guerrillas armed with IUDs. Somehow everyone who professes to be worried about government spending focuses on the mustard.
I agree with your post. The good news is the guerrillas will die out with low birth rates.
