Mark Lanegan, Taylor Hawkins.
Two more genx rockers gone. So much talent from the genx generation has been lost.

Yes, those were a shock to me too.

I heard a coworker rant about Taylor Hawkins' death and vaccines. Something something healthy young men die from heart disease due to the vaccine.

Well, as much as I was sorry to hear of his death, he was a 50 year old drinker, smoker and drug user found with 10 different substances in his body when he died. Can't really blame the vaccine for that.

You are being too rational.  Vaccine haters will hate, and twist facts to their liking.

Wow. That's unbelievable. Blaming the vaccine? Talk about twisting reality to fit your agenda. If I heard someone say that I would just be dumbfounded.

Exactly.  Rock musicians have the myth of all going out in a blaze of drugs and alcohol.  Not vaccines.  Keep the proper mythos going.

I wonder what his take would be on Lanegan, who very nearly died of Covid (his experience was so bad I can't help but assume it was a contributor to his as yet unannounced cause of death less than a year later):

In March 2021, Lanegan was hospitalised with severe COVID-19 and almost died.[102] The virus had led to him going temporarily deaf, being unable to walk, and slipping in and out of a coma for several months.[92][102] In a 2020 interview, Lanegan had described his beliefs in a number of COVID-19 conspiracy theories, including the idea the virus is linked to 5G technology. He also described paranoia that he and his wife were being surveilled by technological appliances.[94][101] However, in 2021 he said he had concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic was a "natural event"[86] and also admitted that "I was one of those knuckleheads who was wary of the vaccine. But I learned my lesson. I’ll be the first one to get a booster shot when it’s available in Ireland."[14]

Major bummer.  Ironically, I just watched this awesome video 2 days ago, which made me appreciate a great song even more than I thought possible:

The meat of the musical analysis starts around 9 minutes in.

It's weird they waited until after he was out of office.

I'm going to guess Amy ran, since I had a dream last night I attended her funeral. To get in the funeral you had to quite your favorite Amy Tan quite.

Lol! Maybe Amy Tan Ran from her own funeral.

It caught my eye because of the Netflix Documentary, "Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir". I was in the audience the night of filming and a friend was the moderator. Even better was that someone had given us excellent tickets so, yippee, free! Long live Amy Tan!

Mikhail Gorbachev

https://www.reuters.com/world/mikhail-gorbachev-who-ended-cold-war-dies-aged-92-agencies-2022-08-30/

The way I’ve seen it played is: 85 - age of person who died = your score.
So if you picked Gorbachev, you get a score of…. -7?

I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit when I read the headlines my first thought was: oh, he was still alive?

I don’t think they’ll get that far in the next season. But yeah, maybe??? how the series will end. Because let’s be honest, who wants to watch a show about King Charles?

Huh.  Coincidentally, I’m currently reading Nickel and Dimed.  I have to admire her gumption for voluntarily taking on low wage, physically demanding jobs at age 60 for the sake of research into the subject of Not Getting By in America.

It's really an eye-opening book. Her dry with and intelligence will be greatly missed.
