Cheapest Places to Buy Makeup
« on: February 08, 2014, 03:59:20 PM »
I know a lot of people don't wear much makeup or think it's an unnecessary expense. However, sometimes I have to buy some for various occasions. I also try to look nice for work. Where have you found the best deals for makeup? Are there any websites that regularly have coupons for makeup stores? I hate buying the really cheap stuff because it looks bad and then it seems like a waste of money (i.e. wet n wild). Any suggestions?

I don't wear a lot of makeup, but I've found the following two places to be bargains:

Sephora (store brand) products.
Bed Bath & Beyond with one of those 20% off coupons they are always sending out.

Staying hydrated and getting enough sleep means you won't need much makeup, also.

If makeup must be worn, then the cheapest good quality brand I'm aware of is E.L.F.

Sold at Target and lots of other national chains. Products start at a buck and the quality is as good as anything you get at sephora.

I have found Physician's Formula to be pretty good for powder based products.
Amazon.com can be a good place to get make-up. Use their black friday sale to stock up on stuff you would buy anyway.

It's been years since I last bought from them, but I'm quite a fan of Everyday Minerals foundation. The reason why I haven't bought from them for so long? I rarely use makeup (maybe a few times a year, if that) and a little goes a long way. If you choose the stuff that's purely minerals (with no oils, etc. added - just check the ingredients for each item), and use them hygienically, I don't see why they won't keep for years. And when I remove it from my face, I often think that my bare skin looks better than ever. You can get free samples too and only pay for shipping.

I totally sound like an ad for them, haha.

I also like a few Japanese brands for eyeshadow and buy them when I'm in Asia, or purchase though eBay. The brands I get are the cheaper "youth" brands of more established brands e.g. Kate (by Kanebo), Majolica Majorca (by Shiseido).

For lips I would just get something natural and eco-friendly from an organic shop or something. If you don't need special colors and all that jazz, and just want some moisture and gloss, you could even try just using extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
