My only disappointment is that we still have no woman as leader of a major political party, Elizabeth May needs to be keeping more diverse company.  But Justin at 45 is the oldest of the 3 men??  I hope this will get our younger voters out more for the next election.

I don't know anything about Singh, but will be watching him closely and hoping he can bring the party to greater recognition.  Never thought Mulcair did a great job with the NDP, but Layton's shoes were pretty big to fill.

I'm sad that Nikki Ashton didn't win, and wonder how much her gender/ pregnancy made a difference, but am thrilled that Singh won! It's a huge step for the white monolith that is Canadian federal politics. Although if he fails to make the NDP relevant and doesn't grow it enough there will be people blaming the 'diversity hire', I bet.

Personally I wasn't a fan of her soak the rich, nationalise key industries brand of "progressiveness" and I'm glad to see someone a little more in touch with reality in charge of the party.

as a parent of young twins myself I have a feeling that losing the leadership race isn't the worst thing in the world for her, it's hard enough just keeping your head above water for the first year let alone trying to rebuild a national party at the same time...
