bike route--elevation map??
« on: August 22, 2013, 05:34:53 AM »
I have several choices for my bike route. However, it is very hilly around here. Anyone know how I can find out not just distance, but elevation? (that is without having to get survey maps etc :)

Go to Mapmyride.com and enter your possible routes, and it'll give you the countours for each to help you decide.

Great question and great answers.  I've been playing with different routes to work based on elevation levels.  There is this one hill that I just cannot get up without getting off my bike and walking for a minute.  Going to try a new route.

the hills around here are downright miserable.  My ride is < 2 mi but i'm totally sweaty by the time I roll in.

Hills are definitely a consideration for me when venturing out on the bike...jealous of those residing in flat areas :(

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
