Mmh? Personally I was too lazy to fish back this thread.

Let's go with some old British bands still releasing kickass albums in 2018:

Magnum - Without Love

Saxon - Thunderbolt

This one is for you @TheGrimSqueaker (since I remember you mentioned Judas Priest once):  Judas Priest - Evil Never Dies

The new Belly album!!! Yea Belly! They were a band in the early 90s, released two EXCELLENT albums, had some commercial success, broke up, spent 20 years doing solo music (Tanya Donelly) or completely different careers (the other three members), and then decided to get back together and do one tour for the fun of it. That was in 2016, and the concert was amazing! I never thought I'd get to see them live because I'd missed them the first time around and then they were broken up for 20 years. And they had so much fun touring together that they started writing new material and now, 23 years after the second album was released, they have released their third! And it's GREAT and I'm just a little excited about it.  Ha! (And yes, I already have tickets for their new tour!!!)

I went to Wikipedea to make sure I had my dates right and it's kindo f funny to see their discography typed out:
Star (1993)
King (1995)
Dove (2018)

Yea for being old!  I get to relive my youth! :D

I know this post is hyperbolic but I've spent 25 years listening to the same two Belly albums. I love those albums to death, but it's VERY exciting to have new Belly music. Ya know?

^I hadn't heard Belly, sounds interesting so I got King to try out. Sounds like you felt the way I did when Slowdive released their 2017 album (which is very good) after a 22 year hiatus. (A number of years ago, Portishead also came back with a wonderful third album following a hiatus; maybe there's a pattern here?)

One of my favorite 2018 albums so far is In a Poem Unlimited by U.S. Girls, e.g. Mad As Hell

The whole album is brilliant, but this is the one doing it for me today
Janelle Monáe - Crazy, Classic, Life
I haven't gotten into her new album much yet but loved her debut The ArchAndroid which has a pleasantly unsettling vibe to it. Anyway, on the stranger side, JM's song PYNK features vocals from Grimes (perhaps in return for this collaboration), who is now inexplicably dating Elon Musk!

Cool! I hope you like it. I hadn't heard of Slowdive but I checked them out. Nice! And yes, their discography timeline is very similar. :)

I listen to a wide range of music, from alternative to psychedelic to thrash metal, minus hip pop, rap, and country. I tend to listen to the same stuff over and over again until I burn out of it before moving on to something else. Psychedelic rock was something I discovered about 10 years ago and it just became my favorite genre for awhile before burning out on that too. For the last year I have been treading water in boredom being sick of a lot of what I liked and not finding anything new to listen to.

Then I found remasters of songs by fans on youtube. Like Metallica. And its blown me away.

For those what don't know, many years ago Metallica lost their bass player in an accident, and hired a young guy named Jason Newsted to take his place. On the first album he played on, 'And Justice for All', the rest of the band hazed him, and even turned down his bass on the album before it was released. The album is a classic anyways, but the fans have always wanted to know what it would have sounded like if they had left the bass in there as they should have. Well, peeps have been doing it themselves and some of the stuff on youtube is just blowing me away.

I do not like what Metallica has become. I think they started going downhill with their black album, but their old stuff is amazing, and I am really enjoying listening to the fan edited stuff. This means I am also picking up other metal bands I used to listen too like Slayer and Metal Church. Its been a lot of fun.

For now. Then I will get sick of it and the search will continue.

Why you gotta be so mean?

And it's a love story. But he's not saying yes. So I've got a blank space in which to write a name.

(My usual musical inclinations are rock and death metal. Not T. Swift.)

These kids (the oldest is 18) got a major record deal and are playing Wacken and a few other big metal festivals this year. They sing in both English and Te Reo Māori. Very impressive.

Usually I forget about this thread until I'm not actually listening to it anymore, because I like a lot of different music.

I've really got to share this song I found with you all, though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3jz3bJWVvs - Resignation Song (Quit Your Job), by The Lancashire Hotpots.

Their other tracks are good if you want songs about Lancashire/the North of England, many many songs about beer, and some other random humour stuff.

Indigo and Morcheeba were both good listens.

Funny how Moby got a lot of backlash for the way he whored out Play to advertisers after the initial lukewarm release. The b-sides Play album is nearly as good as the main album. He maybe went into a slump after that but I found Wait For Me to be particularly good of his more recent stuff (I think he said this was the album he always wanted to make when unchained from the drive to be commercially successful)--e.g. JLTF

So much choral Christmas music, especially "Christmas" by Voces8 and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. I'm no longer Christian but choral Christmas music is my favorite genre.

You’re welcome. If you get a chance to see them live, take it. They are spellbinding and breathtaking. And they’re very gracious: I’ve seen them twice, and after both concerts the all stayed around for a long time to chat with the audience.

This week its been all about 80's love songs on my pandora when working out. Hey , I am a 54 year old guy and its not what I would consider love songs but good 80's music! haha. Maybe i am just sappy. I know like Micheal Jacksons " Make a change" is on the list. The week before or right after Enigma it was soft rock of the 70's.
