10/10/10 Rule for Making Decisions

Blog post talks about the 10/10/10 Method: A good set of questions to ask yourself when making a decision:
Quote
Every time I find myself in a situation where there appears to be no solution that will make everyone happy, I ask myself three questions:
  • What are the consequences of my decision in 10 minutes?
  • In 10 months?
  • And in 10 years?

I'd also personally ask "How will I feel in 10 minutes/months/years" (not just consequences), but it's a very neat idea .

Hat tip to Lifehacker for the link.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.

Great rule to use, thanks for posting.  It's funny because in many of the collaborative decisions I am involved in professionally I find people are really focusing on the first 10, maybe a little of the second 10 and never thinking about the last 10.

Great tip! Sounds almost like this minimalist decluttering tip:

Most things can be replaced for less than ten dollars, in ten minutes or less. So get rid of those things you're saving!
