So they did a poll of our company which posed the question:
"When lunchtime comes I usually ______ "
A. Eat the lunch I brought from home
B. Eat at the cafeteria on-site
C. Go out to pick something up
D. Go out to a sit down restaurant
Currently there's like ~1300 responses and the breakdown is as follows
A. 63%
B. 24%
C. 9%
D. 4%
I must say I'm pretty surprised that nearly 2/3rds of the polled workforce brings their lunch from home. Although granted, the majority of employees at this worldwide company are manufacturing associates who have a 30 minute lunch and are hourly skilled and unskilled labor.
If they redid this poll only for the corporate headquarters it might be very different.

It's also interesting to me to see so few at sit down restaurants. I thought there would be more, but you said a lot of people have a very short lunch break so that explains that.

But, now I'm curious how many of 'the lunch I brought home's were leftovers from a restaurant dinner the night before :)

In my office they provide free cereal so I almost always have that for lunch. I'm REALLY tired of Honey nut cheerios, Life, and Special K - Red Berries. :) But hey, it's free so I'm all over it.

I also wonder how much of the bring-from-home crew is bringing Lean Cuisines and the like, vs. people who are preparing a meal (be it leftovers, a sandwich, whatever).
