This was very inspirational for me.  He spent less than $125 and cooked simple meals from scratch.  Mostly oatmeal, pasta, with chicken for protein (organic!).  He didn't even use eggs because he doesn't like them, and shopped at Whole Foods.

Thanks for sharing. This was great.

Protip for saving $ while shopping at Whole Foods. They offer a 10 percent "case discount" on most items. If you look at the price tag the number of items needed to hit the case discount is listed. Ask a stocker to point it out to you next time you're there.

They also offer discounts on large quantities of most of the stuff in their bulk bins, if you want 20 pounds of sprouted cashews or whatever. :)

Really enjoyed this - thanks! Very sensible attitude. I'd be interested to see a food diary, though.
