Mustachian Web Tools: NetWorthIQ
« on: February 21, 2012, 08:14:42 AM »
There are many Mustachian tools around the web.

NetWorthIQ is one of my favorites.  It tracks your net worth. And that's it.

https://www.networthiq.com/

It will send you a once/month email reminder to update if you like (I have a reoccurring appointment set up on my Google Calendar for it instead).

You can compare across other users of the site (data is aggregated anonymously) based on criteria such as age, geographic location, education level, etc., but take it with a grain of salt.  You have to keep in mind that they don't have a large enough sample, and - more importantly - they have a self selected sample of people tracking their net worth.  Likely people choosing to use a website like that (who are more conscious of their net worth) will be higher than the actual average.

I find it good just for tracking my own.

And yes, excel can do the same thing, and I do indeed use Excel to track my net worth as well (mainly because I can make it do a best fit line to write a projection equation for my future net worth), but for many this simple tool may be all they need.

I have no affiliation with this website, other than being a satisfied user.

Enjoy!

That's an interesting tracker/barometer of net worth.  Might be fun to add a net worth range to MMM user profiles or even better monthly expenses for those who have truly mastered mustachianism.

I've been using this site for 2 years now. So far it's the best I've seen. Mint's tracker is inaccurate for me and I like to exclude certain accounts from my net worth.

I just wish that whoever owns the site actually did something with it. It could be so much more. That being said, it still serves it purpose well.

I've been trying to sign up for this website recently, but no luck.  I had an account a long time ago and tried to reset my password, but the emailer didn't send me an email.

I tried signing up for a new account, however the emailer didn't send me an email that way either.

Anyone have any other ideas or contacts I can message?  I messaged a moneystrands email address, the networth IQ email address, and something else, too.

Any help is appreciated.

Did you try a different email address when signing up for the new account?

I do think they had some sign up issues recently, because someone else complained about the same thing, IIRC.

Certainly did.  A Gmail account, a yahoo account, and my work email because I was desperate. lol

Thanks anyway.  I'll keep trying but I'm not hopeful at this point :/

I'm thinking the sign up issues must be fixed, as on the main page they have a "newest public net worths" section, and clicking on those accounts it says signed up in January 2013, so if your sign up wasn't working before, you may want to try again (don't know if you'll need to try a different email address or not).

EDIT: Like this user, acidic, who signed up in January 2013, and lists MMM in his profile on the right hand side as one of his personal finance tools.  Badassity!

Yep, fixed! My old email I tried to sign up with before is listed as "taken," but a new email address in the signup and it now works!

Awesome, thanks for confirming.  Did you try and do the Forgot Password with your old (main) email?  That might be something for others to try if you signed up before but never got the registration email before trying to sign up again with a second email address.

Hmm, tried that just now (The forgot password for my original email), and it worked! Good, I'd rather use that primary email! Can't find a way to close the other account I opened. Oh well, I guess.

Just signed up. Mint.com is great, but it does not keep good track of your net worth. This is just a nice tool for me to see my net worth growing.

I was interested to see the statistics. Apparently, there are not that many users yet (only 1687?) and their average net worth is extremely high -- an average of over $1 million! Just more inspiration to save and invest.

Hooray!!  I've seriously been trying (last time might have been December) for a while, as you can see, to get in.

Glad to see it's back!
