Yeah, I'll say it. He looks like he lives without money. I'd be much more impressed if he managed to pull it off whilst looking just like anyone who is working for a living. Does this matter? Oh, yes it does. Living with nothing and looking like it is far easier than working for a living and saving your ass off so you can FIRE. Not  overly impressed.

I think it's good. I think it would be better for our species and planet if we could recenter our lives on more sustainable things. Money is not necessary: it is only a tool. That being said, it might be better to keep it, though I doubt any of us can predict the better course.

Interesting experiment to do for a while, like fasting, or living in a monastery.

Not sure what this meant:

For loo I’d relieve the local newsagent of its papers (Once I wiped my arse with a story about myself)

Don't newsagents sell papers? How did he "relieve" them for free?

I think an all important "paper" is missing between "loo" and "I'd"

If he's living in Ireland (I don't think the article says, they just say he's an Irishman) then most places, assuming things haven't changed since I last worked in a shop (admittedly a long time ago), just cut off the head of unsold newspapers (the bit with the logo) to return to the supplier and then they are responsible for dumping the rest of it. So if he's friendly with a local shop, they'd probably be happy to put some of them aside for him every day and not have to pay for the disposal.

Edited to add: just read another article about him where he mentions his time paying into the NHS so it seems he's based in the UK. Maybe someone from there can say whether or not they have a similar newspaper returns policy.

I read his book a while ago. He is an Irishman who was living in England at the time of his moneyless year. Since then he has written a "Moneyless Manifesto" which is free to read online. Since this experiment, I believe he relocated to Ireland and is farming land there. The premise of moneyless living seems quite aligned with MMM lifestyle- if you live frugally, use your resources creatively and make do/ do without, you will be fine, maybe even discover resources within yourself that you didn't realize you had. Just my 2c.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
