The US air force, and I assume the rest of the DoD, is running their "military saves" campaign this week. I didn't realize it was a national thing. They want us to sign some pledge that we're going to be awesome at saving and budgeting, and they track how many people have signed. Of course, this being the military, everyone signs because we have to sign all kinds of stupid shit every day. I'm sure, though, that all my peers are suddenly and radically frugal.
I'm always disconcerted by the MWR contractors that come and talk to us about "saving for retirement". They're usually 60+ year old dudes spouting corporate mantra and can't answer any question beyond what they were taught. No one else sees the irony in an older person working the grind talking about retirement... Rather than being retired. *sigh*
