This has probably already been read by many of you, but still a fun story.

Living in KC offers for little in the way of public transport, my car has a flat tire for which I'm to lazy to fix, so why not just bike everywhere.

The author is joking, but he's right in some ways at least. We don't own a car, but I'm taking care of one right now (owner is abroad and it seemed fun to have a car for a few weeks). So I need to head to the hardware store and already have the car key in hand. Then I think about the hassle of finding a parking spot in this busy neighborhood, think about how it's only a mile to the hardware store, and then take the bike anyway.

In some places, biking is a no-brainer. I used to commute to school in London by bike almost every day, or 30 minutes each way, door to door. Compare that to walking 5 minutes from my front door to the bus stop, then 40-45 minutes on the bus in rush hour traffic, then 5 minutes again to walk from the bus stop to school. Plus all that extra money that has to come from somewhere to pay for those bus fares!?

Yeah same here. Takes 50 minutes to get to school by bike. Takes an 1.10 or longer by public transport.
To work it works out the same but at least I'm getting some exercise and warming up.

Funny but so true. In many cases taking the bike is actually the easiest way to get from A to B in a city, especially for short distances of up to 10km. Health and savings aside taking the bike to work is the fastest way for me to get there - even though it's only 4.5km taking the subway and bus would take anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes due to waiting time and insane traffic, and taking the car would take around 20 minutes. Biking allows me to take a shortcut across a university hospital campus and an inner city park and get to work in less than 15 minutes.

So yeah, I can totally get the point of the article. Sometimes, taking the bike is for the lazy ones.

I actually DO bike because I am lazy.  I find biking to work is easier than driving and going to the gym, and way more time efficient since driving takes up time anyway.  Biking also instills discipline, if I don't work out on the way home on my bike, I won't get there, or will have to walk.  either way, I am getting more exercise in, and can do whatever I feel like whenever I arrive home.
