Good and Cheap (recipe book)
« on: August 03, 2014, 04:34:57 AM »
This woman put together a cookbook for people on food stamps, but hey, a good cheap recipe is a good cheap recipe.    And the cookbook is online and free, link in the story.

Thank you for this! The recipes look great and I compared her math to my area and it's pretty comparable, maybe even cheaper for me! I also sent the link to my parents because they do a lot of volunteer work at a food pantry and I bet the patrons of the pantry could use a resource like this.

Oh wow, this looks amazing!  Can't wait to try the recipe for chocolate zucchini muffins as I have several cups of frozen shredded ready in the freezer.

Good find!  Thank you for sharing!

I make her Jambalaya all the time and it lasts for like 3-5 meals depending on portion size.  I also cut the hot spices in half since I can not deal with super spicy food, but its still very flavorful.  I love the recipe, its super easy and fast to do, plus nice on my wallet :)

Wow -- great find!

I can't wait to try some of these . . . though I'm not sure about those Cheddar Japaleno Scones -- that really doesn't sound like my kind of thing.

Well I was going to make some snarky comment about libraries and thrift stores but this really is a good cookbook.

This is a great cookbook. I love that it is real food with low prices, it emphasizes cooking from scratch and shows how easy that can be.
Some favorites so far from what I have made: banana pancakes, savory oatmeal (with cheese and egg), cold spice asian noodles, broccoli apple salad, and spicy green beans.
Will not make the beet chickpea salad again though it was ok - maybe just too large a portion for our family. It would be a perfect potluck offering, as long as you label it as containing peanuts.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
