Discovered Zen Pencils recently, was going through the backlog and thought this one was a great distillation of one of the core tenets of Mustachianism: http://zenpencils.com/comic/30-dean-karnazes-theres-no-struggle-in-our-lives/.

ZP is a must read. His art work is so fantastic, he can work in a ton of different styles, and he has a lot of great, inspirational quotes. Also gotta love the fact that he got out of the crappy day to day work life and is doing what he loves. Great stuff all around!

Dean Karnazes is totally bada$$! And slightly insane (by societal standards). I think all ultra-marathoners are. His book (Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All Night Runner) is really inspirational, it puts a lot of things in perspective. I recommend seeing if your local library has a copy.

As someone who has lived through some pretty epic struggles, I completely disagree with that comic.  I enjoy the fact that my life is so comfortable and cushy now.  I've already had enough struggle to last a lifetime.  In my experience, being comfortable is exactly the same thing as being happy.  The reason I've embraced Mustachianism is because I want to be comfortable and happy for the rest of my life.

The trick is that most "creature comforts" (like Starbucks lattes, luxury cars, tropical vacations, 4K TV sets, etc.) actually generate stress in people's lives because they borrow to finance these comforts and they end up working jobs they hate to make their loan payments.  People need to learn to enjoy the real comforts of life -- good food and drink (not expensive food and drink), music, books, the companionship of friends and family, etc.
