Title: Chauncy's Chance
Post by: mxt0133 on June 24, 2016, 11:54:48 PM
Just wanted to post this GoFundMe account.  Basically it's a tearjerker of a story, where a young man goes to a shopping mall and asks someone if they could help carry their bags in exchange for doughnuts because he and his mom are hungry.  Long story short the individual takes him shopping for food, gives him a ride home, sees how the mom and son live and starts a GoFundMe. In 11 days it raises $158k and counting.  When I first looked at it this afternoon it just crossed $100K.  Basically this person just raised more in 10 hours that I can save in a year.

Makes me wonder why some people are still so against welfare benefits, universal health care, or universal basic income, when so many people are willing to help a complete stranger without thinking twice about it.

** Warning I don't know if it's legit, it was published in USATODAY and I'm hoping the writer verified that this is not a scam **
