That really puts biking to work to shame.

Boooo . . . support vehicles carrying all their stuff?  It's not a bike expedition any more at that point is it?

That said, I totally want to be part of this.

"The South Pole Epic will cost be [sic] an expensive endeavor. Our basic Kickstarter goal is $150,000."
As suicide attempts go, this one isn't very Mustachian.

Yeah, I realized after posting this that with this guy's career, if he had saved like a mustachian he could easily have funded it himself.

That will be properly hard.

One of our kids' TV presenters did part of the way by bike last year for Sport Relief (a charity that raises funds through various sporting endeavours - there are always a few high profile people who do crazy things like swim the channel or run from one end of the country to the other, and this was one of those).  Watching the TV programme the bike bit was by far the most difficult/inefficient way to travel in those conditions, and skis (and particularly kite-skiing which looked fanatstic!) were much faster.

However, she was apparently hauling 13st of kit, so maybe if they don't take the kit these guys will be OK.  Although it must be much less satisfying to do it if you have somebody else carrying your essentials for you under petrol power!  Why not just go by some means that is actually efficient and effective?  I mean, I realise this way you get to do something for the first time, but what next ... pogo to the pole?!  ;-)

In Helen Skelton's case she was part of an effort that raised £50m for charity (they don't hypothecate for the individual activities, but I'm sure a good chunk of the giving was motivated by her achievements), which adds a bit more point to it aswell :-)

Good luck to them anyway ... I would never be able to do ANYTHING like that!
