A family doing the AT
« on: August 21, 2014, 12:05:33 AM »
I think this falls firmly in the badass category: a family of four (the two kids are 7 and 9) have nearly completed a thru-hike of the AT. Their chronicle is at http://kallinfamily.com/. They aren't early retirees, but I'd say they share many of the attributes of Mustachianism: lead a good life, enjoy life, do things your way, and don't waste.

Anyway, their chronicle is pretty inspiring.

That is awesome! This is one of the first things I would like to do once FIRE'd, the only worry I had is what my family situation would be at that time. This gives me hope.

Yea, I though you were cool, too!

What a neat story.  Those kids have the BEST PARENTS EVER!  The remainder of their summers will suck compared to this one!

I emailed the link to my husband. All of our excuses are invalid.

Very badass. They seem like a fun and tight-knit family.

The mother seems like she's ER'd. I like her title "home subsistence farming". I need to come up with something descriptive and cool like that while ER'd to explain my daily activities.

I like how they let their kids explore nature and aren't all uptight about things like in our modern culture. They will grow up to be good people.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
