Lol. I would say there's a time an place for being frugal. On a first date might not be that time.

The article mentioned that some people are using groupons on dates.  If someone busted out a regular coupon on a first date I might think it strange, but groupons somehow don't have the same stigma for some reason.

Right!? I feel the same way.  It is so weird, the feeling that a groupon is better than a normal old coupon...must be some good marketing.

Coupons or no, it seems to me there are more problems than this for  Mustachian daters.  Doesn't it seem awfully inconsistent that the typical date involves something like going out to dinner together, when going out to dinner is not something you'd do (or enjoy doing) in your normal life?

Something that might be more mustachian and maybe more romantic than a standard dinner would be to pack a picnic and drinks.

+1

And owning your own home mortgage free sounds attractive too!

i think i disagree but i've only been on one and that involved wandering a market and eating pizza sitting on a curb. was perfect to me but i guess students can get away with that! i was definitely happy that expensive meals or movies or whatnot else didn't come up.
