Just before leaving Sprint in 2012, I acquired an
LG Optimus S. Soon thereafter, I switched to a T-Mobile MVNO called PTel (formerly PlatinumTel) and I use their pay-as-you-go plan. I put my PTel SIM into an old unlocked GSM dumbphone. My Sprint device no longer has cell service, but I often carry it around so I can access email, free texting apps, etc., when I am on WiFi.
I am tired of carrying around two devices, and it occurred to me that someone out there might actually be able to use this device, especially if you want to switch to Ting. It is a Sprint-locked device with a clean ESN, and I have confirmed that it will work on Ting. It should also work with any other Sprint MVNO, such as EcoMobile, but I have not confirmed any other carriers.
I am looking for a comparable Android device that would work on Ptel (unlocked GSM or T-Mobile), so I can stop carrying around two devices all the time.
